Rick Denton
Rick is a mental health professional who provides psychological services under the supervision of a registered psychologist.
Rick Denton, B.A., M.Sc.Ed, has an extensive background in education as a teacher, special education consultant, school principal, school board superintendent and interim director of education. In addition, he has administered psycho-educational assessments since 1979.
Rick is extremely knowledgeable with regard to special education legislation and has presented numerous workshops/courses on topics such as exceptionalities, educational law and programming accommodations to support special needs students. Rick has done considerable work supporting parents as they work with school staff to obtain additional assistance to meet their child's academic needs.
Currently, Rick teaches courses (e.g. Educational Psychology, Special Education, Methods, Education and Schooling) in the Nipissing University Faculty of Education (Brantford Campus) Concurrent Program.
Also, Rick has a diploma in Family Mediation (specializing in the development of parenting plans) from McMaster University. Rick is a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP), the Ontario Association of Family Mediators (OAFM) and the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).
