Stephen is a mental health professional who provides psychological services under the supervision of a registered psychologist.

Stephen Douglas has provided psychotherapy to help clients experience emotional change through individual and family sessions, groups and workshops for over fifteen years.

Stephen helps clients address a wide range of concerns, including:

  • anxiety disorders
  • depression - addictions
  • stress and anger management
  • marriage and family conflict
  • men’s personal growth

From his extensive background in Gestalt Therapy, Jungian Therapy and projective techniques in art, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as his study of the healing traditions in indigenous cultures, Stephen has integrated an effective model of change for clients who have emotional or relationship blocks leading to depression, anxiety, and chronic anger.

He also provides insightful marriage and family therapy, validating every family members' needs and helping each learn to communicate effectively without blame.

Stephen has also worked extensively in the field of family conflict, including groups for clients who are violent in their intimate relationships as well as family members who have been or have witnessed abuse. In 2000, he took a one-year sabbatical to volunteer in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, helping a community establish a domestic violence counseling program.

Stephen has published articles in Shared Vision Magazine, Humanist Perspectives, The Gestalt Journal, Counselors' Connection, and the B.C. Counsellor. Stephen also sits as a  Board Member for the OACCPP.
