Biography

Pat Brodie practices counselling and therapy in Grimsby under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychological Associate who are members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

Pat Brodie, Reg.N., CPMHN, PHN. provides Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and education related to Mood Disorder Illnesses for individuals, couples and groups. In the last six years, Pat has strived to perfect her skills in Interpersonal Psychotherapy and received a certificate in this modality in 1998.

This style of therapy is a time limited course, focusing on the treatment of depression related to life stressors. This can include relationship conflict, any transitional change such as job-loss, separation/divorce, illness (including mood disorder), postpartum management or grief related to death.

Strategies can be developed with counselling alone or in conjunction with medication prescribed by the family physician or psychiatrist. IPT is a "here and now" approach with the therapist acting as a coach to help the client develop their own goals and management of their unique situation. On-going maintenance therapy sessions for continued support is also offered.
