Program, Individual Therapy, Marital Therapy, Rehabilitation, Short-Term Therapy BiographyKersti Abawi practices counselling and therapy in Oakville under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychological Associate who are members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. All therapy aims to broaden our awareness. This sounds simple, but is extraordinarily complex. The difficulties we find ourselves in are generated or compounded by motives, concepts and habits of UNawareness. By becoming aware of what these are, we are set free to see ourselves and our lives in new ways. We are motivated differently, and change occurs. Kersti has been a psychotherapist since 1993, with experience working in hospitals, mental health agencies, for a national EAP provider, as well as in her own private practice. In addition to an M.A. in counselling psychology, she is trained in EMDR, has completed coaching foundations with the Institute for Lifecoach Training, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) professional training. She is currently pursuing certification in the therapeutic use of essential oils. Kersti is a member of the Ontario Association of Counsellors Consultants, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP), and has presented at their annual conference on using a Narrative approach in the treatment of eating disorders. She loves nature photography, flamenco dancing, and has an ongoing yoga and meditation practice.
