Wallis is a mental health professional who provides psychological services under the supervision of a registered psychologist. 
Wallis Balog is a psychotherapist in private practice with nearly 30 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings in the US and Canada. Her credentials include:
- a Master of Science degree from Southern Illinois University
- PhD studies in Clinical and Counselling Psychology at York University
- trained Cognitive Behaviour Therapist,
- Certified Interpersonal Therapist,
- experienced Group Facilitator.
Wallis’ focus is on helping people establish life balance, build resilience, and regain meaning in their lives after a loss, significant life change, illness, injury, or chronic health problems.
For much of her career, Wallis has worked in inpatient and outpatient Mental Health Treatment Facilities, where she specialized inthe clinical assessment and treatment of:
- Anxiety Disorders (including OCD and PTSD),
- Depression, and
- Suicide Risk.
Over the years, she also developed expertise in the Psychological Management of Medical Illness including:
- Cardiac Disease,
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome,
- Chronic Pain, Migraine, and
- Cancer.
She helped establish the Women’s Alcoholism Treatment Program at Fellowship House in Anna Illinois, and she started the first Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy Group for Depression at the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry (CAMH) in Toronto. In 2003, Wallis created a new Psychoeducational Treatment Program for Cardiac Rehabilitation Patients at Trillium Health Centre that raised the bar for cardiac rehabilitation.
Wallis’ skills as an experienced trainer and workshop facilitator are sought by corporations, agencies, mental health professionals, and members of the community at large. She has appeared on Q107 Radio, Radio Ryerson, CBC Radio, and on CBLT Morning Television. She is a published author of research in cognitive behavioural treatment of depression, post-secondary educational materials, and fiction. She is a member of the Speakers’ Bureau for the OACCPP. Wallis is a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists, the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention, the American Psychological Association, and the Halton Coalition for Suicide Prevention.
